WELCOME!

I’m Juliana Chagas,

movie and audiovisual projects director and founder of Goiabeira.

A journalist that used to find herself in the writing of texts but fell in love with filmmaking so much to a point where changing careers was inevitable. My need to communicate has been widened with the possibility of making movies, reaching more people, increasing the range of the stories I want to tell.

I believe movies can connect people and change the world. I also believe female stories are strong and able to awake us to a new way of thinking about the main issues of our society, expanding awareness and making effective changes.

Movies can remove us from a dual view of ourselves, widening minds and hearts, and moving us to a space of emotion, connection and transformation. That’s exactly how filmmaking captures and motivates me.

It’s important to say that I’m also available for working as a director and screenwriter in projects developed by other film companies aligned with Goiabeira’s themes, including diversity and feminism.

Can we talk more about this possibility?

D

I see beauty in Goiabeira’s path, early in its journey being present in festivals in Brazil and abroad with projects showing the female power, such as in documentary films “As Pastoras – Samba Chorous Singers and “Say My Name”, or in fiction movies in progress “Unforgotten Memories” and “Julia”.

Our path also goes through international consulting in Panama, participation in workshops for projects and markets in Brazil, Mexico and Colombia, development awards, besides licensing our movies to players aligned with our purpose of making women the protagonists, such as the TV channels: Canal Brasil, CineBrasilTV and Todes Play.
